Around 2011, Doctor Jason Leininger discovered that his great-grandmother had lived most of her life with only one good eye. He had known her for 23 years when she died at 96. Upon learning about her one good eye, Jason was disillusioned about how he had not known about such a significant part of her life. She was a great person in so many ways, and Jason found himself full of regret that he had not been fully aware of how fantastic she had really been.
Reflecting on his lack of awareness, Jason felt compelled to help share the stories of really cool people in order to inspire, encourage, and challenge others through the art of serendipity. Thus, his next great idea: the Really Cool People Podcast.
Jason approached me about producing the podcast, and I gladly accepted. The podcast’s tagline is a quote from CS Lewis, “there are no ordinary people.” Each episode features a weekly guest (aka weekly cool person), telling the story of their life, focusing on four areas: the past, present, future, and purpose/reflection. Like CS Lewis, we truly believe there are no ordinary people.
